so let it be known that when cleaning your blender, you must be aware of the blades at all time. i effed my middle finger. not so bad since i have no readers yet… however this post took me forever to type up.

I rang in the new year with quite possibly the most expensive single beer I had ever purchased. Although I had paid about $17 for chimay at a few bars around me, I never paid more than $ 12 for a bottle of any thing at a liquor store. Well that was until yesterday. After uncapping (yes I said capping)
the $18 bottle I was quickly overwhelmed by the aroma. I have had a number of chocolate porters and stouts in my day so this beer took me a bit by surprise. From my past history with these types of beers the chocolate is quite subtle, so when I was overpowered by the imported Swiss flavor, it did bring a grin to my face.

I have to admit my naivete here. When I originally poured the glass I did it kind of to fast. The head took it over quickly and I was surprised by how thin this beer was. With the aroma as strong as it was I did kind of expect something more along the lines of chewable rather than sip-able. My first few drinks were quite enjoyable, the chocolate was very prevalent and there was no beer taste to this at all. About 1/3 of my way in I started to get angry that there was no beer taste. Maybe im the crazy one but I did buy a beer and not a hot chocolate, however this is what I had in front of me. About 2/3rds of the way through I started to get an upset stomach from the richness of this beer. I am a fan of chocolate but this was a bit much.

I really wanted to like this beer. I really wanted to recommend this beer, I think my disappointment in it may end up being bigger than any other beer I review due to my original desire for this beer. My sadness is overpowering and I find myself questioning my place in society after this let down. I hope to recover from this really soon. I have a feeling my next review will change my life around, It just may.

So here we are on the cusp of 2010 and I decided this year (2010 that is) will be a busy one for me. I love my job, I started working on a web series, (www.harmelody.com) and I also began this blog. If there are 2 things I love, well I guess it would have to be beer and pornography. But if there are 3 thins I love than I would have to add baseball. I formally christen this blog with its first post. In the coming days and weeks it will be updated with beer reviews and baseball story’s. Some times there will be other posts, however 99% of them will be on beer and baseball. I live in Michigan which is home to over 70 micro brewery’s and several large continence stores featuring many, many fine brews.

I should have at least 2 reviews up tomorrow on a few beers I picked up today. I’m no expert on beer so I hope to have them written in a manor that the average Joe would be able to understand.
